Big Timber Volunteer Fire DepartmentBus Fire South of Big TimberMay 19, 2008 The Big Timber Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported bus on fire at the McLeod turn off south of Big Timber. No one was injured in the fire. Sweet Grass County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at 6:57 PM that reported a bus had flames near the rear axles. The bus had been transporting Stillwater Mine employees and all passengers were off the bus at the time of the 911 call. When fire trucks arrived on scene the bus was fully engulfed in flames. Incident Commander Kris Novotny reported that the fire began in the rear of the bus and spread forward destroying most of the bus. Three fire engines from Big Timber and one engine from McLeod responded to the fire. The response forced the temporary closure of the Main Boulder Road for about 45 minutes. |
